How is this project funded?

Thanks for asking, I appreciate your interest! Currently, the only funding for this project comes through donations from people like you.

My family and I took a step of faith in embarking on this project in late 2024, not knowing how long it would take or how we would afford the time. Sounds crazy, right? Except that there's a whole back-story to this, all about God's faithfulness and the way he's encouraged us to follow him. This step was several years in the making, and involved lots of prayer with others!

We were initially self-funded, but by the time I finished composing Part 1 (which took 9 months), about half of our funding had come from generous donors – about 20 individuals/couples.

The primary cost of the project is the time it takes. Each chapter of Mark takes several weeks of full-time work to prepare: researching, translating, composing, revising, practising, recording, editing. Working like this is only possible when I have enough funds to cover everyday living expenses for myself and my family. I couldn't do what I've done if it was just a "hobby" on the side.

There are also some costs associated with producing and presenting the work (for example, maintaining this website). So far I've kept these to a minimum, but I'd love to do more if it became possible – such as involving other musicians or voice actors, or potentially doing a second project along similar lines (there are, after all, another 65 books in the Bible!).

I want this project to remain free to anyone who wants to engage with it. There is no obligation on anyone to donate.
